ISTE 3: Model Digital Age Work and Learning
ISTE 3 focuses on how teachers use digital tools and resources to model that teachers exhibit knowledge, show skills, and work processes that represent an innovation professional in a global, digital society and teach students to do the same. We can work together with students, peers, and the community using digital tools and resources to help encourage students and the innovations occurring within using technology to enhance learning. This particular standard for using technology really focuses on enhancing learning by communication through online collaboration. This changes the learning and learning process as you do not have to be face to face to learn something. There is collaboration with students to students or teachers and students anywhere there is internet. This is done by an array of way. Some ways may include google applications like google+ or google documents, video chats like Skype, FaceTime, and Thinglinks, These tools are great to use in the classroom. A couple that I would use in the classroom are google based applications (i.e. google documents, google slides, and google+) and Thinglink projects. Using google documents and google slides, students will have the ability and expectation to communicate outside of class for projects, but also posting notes as a teacher will benefit students as they can ask questions and every other student can see and respond as well as the teacher. The Thinglink project can be used as a lesson outside of class about a topic. I would use this along with google documents and have every student do the Thinglink at home and fill out the google document questions and share it with me so I can see what the students are doing at home and become paperless homework. Then the students can then share those documents to other students for extra resources.
